Recently, we've received many inquiries about the user manual and have answered many questions about the functionality and concepts of the Photo Organizer.
To address the most frequently asked questions, we've expanded the manual to include these answers.
For easier access, we've also added a direct link to the manual in the app's menu.
If there are still areas that could use further clarification, we'd appreciate your feedback!
We continue to appreciate your abundant feedback and are currently focusing on smaller improvements suggested by you, which can be quickly implemented before we turn our attention back to the larger planned features on our list.
The following improvements are now available:
We look forward to more feedback! :)
We are very pleased to have gained many new users through the release of the Pro features and thank you for your trust and the numerous feedback! :)
We continue to work on both base and Pro features.

Thank you for your feedback and support! These updates were implemented based on your valuable feedback to continuously improve the user experience.
With today's update, we are introducing numerous great new features that are exclusively available to our subscribers, making photo management even more convenient:
The subscription is available at an introductory price of $11 per year, and those who subscribe now will secure this price permanently.
Of course, Photo Organizer can still be used without a subscription. All previously available free features will continue to be free in the future.
We will also regularly release new features in the future – both free and exclusive Pro features.
Have fun trying out the new features, and we look forward to your feedback! :)
Photos are no longer deleted directly but are now moved to the recycle bin first. This saves time when sorting photos, as you no longer need to confirm each deletion individually, but only when you want to empty the recycle bin. This is implemented using the "rejected" rating in the metadata, making it compatible with other programs like ACDSee.
We have also implemented the counterpart, the marking of photos. In addition to the rating stars in the photo view, you can now mark a photo by setting a checkmark. This, like everything in the Photo Organizer, is also saved in the metadata and can be exchanged with other tools.
We hope you like these changes and look forward to your feedback. :)
We have comprehensively redesigned the app's navigation to make it more user-friendly and enhance the visibility of storage locations (previously referred to as "sources").
To achieve this, we have implemented a sidebar navigation that provides direct access to all program areas.
This change also serves as preparation for some planned improvements, such as the display of a file tree that will provide insights into the folder structure of the storage locations.
With this update, we have also made numerous minor improvements to optimize the overall experience. For example, the current photo in the filmstrip is now always centered, and the transition between photos is animated.
We like to hear your feedback! :)
Through a new dialog, the date taken for individual or multiple photos can now be adjusted. You have the option to either directly set a new date or shift the existing date by a specific number of hours and minutes.
Access to the dialog is located in the info window or, in the case of selecting multiple photos, in the action bar.
We like to hear your feedback. :)
Based on your feedback, we have revised the design of the rating system and returned to a classic, colorless version of the star rating.
We look forward to further feedback on the new design! :)
You now have the ability to adjust the orientation of your images.
In order to accommodate the newly added buttons in the bottom right corner, we have revamped the star rating system to a more streamlined version.
Let us know your thoughts on the new feature and redesigned layout.
We eagerly anticipate receiving your feedback! :)
We have optimized the process of importing photo data from your photo sources (synchronization). The images now appear more quickly during the ongoing process, and the import operation is intelligently prioritized based on your actions.
Furthermore, we have worked on the presentation and improved the visibility of the progress bar. It now also displays which step the synchronization is currently in - whether it's scanning the file list, analyzing metadata, determining the capture location, or generating thumbnails.
Thank you for your trust, and we hope you enjoy using the new update!
You now have the ability to directly manage your photos stored in Dropbox within Ashampoo Photos. We would like to express our gratitude to all those who participated in our survey, thereby indicating the need for this feature.
With today's update, we have integrated all essential features for photo management and stabilized the existing functions. As a result, Photos is now leaving the Alpha stage.
This update brings the following improvements:
At this point, we would like to sincerely thank you for the extensive feedback you have provided. It has greatly helped us improve the application, and we hope you will continue to support us so wonderfully.
The development of Photos continues, and we have many exciting plans for the future. It would be fantastic if you continue to accompany us! :)
We are delighted to inform you that we have now enabled the display of PNG images and the reading and writing of metadata works in the same way as with JPG.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have participated in our survey so far. Your valuable contributions have provided us with significant insights, particularly the fact that 60% of our participants use PNGs.
For local sources, your PNG files will now be automatically detected and added. If you have already established a connection with OneDrive, we kindly ask you to reconnect the source to utilize this enhanced functionality.
We are looking forward to your feedback and suggestions!
Changes to photo metadata are now automatically written back to the file system.
This means that the ratings and tags you apply in Photos will now be visible outside the application and can be shared with other programs.
By default, such changes are written directly to the image file for JPG files. You can disable this option in the settings. If disabled, a separate XMP file with the meta information will be created next to the image file.
If the files are stored in the cloud, an XMP file will always be written. This avoids the need to download and re-upload large files due to minor changes.
We look forward to your feedback!
Photos can now be shared with other apps.
In the Android app, the share button brings up the system-level sharing menu.
In the Windows version, a selection menu is displayed that offers the following options:
The editor to use can be set in the settings. Installations of Affinity Photo, Paint.NET, GIMP, and MS Paint in the standard directory are automatically detected and used.
In the single photo view, it is also possible to download a photo from the cloud.
We look forward to your feedback on the new feature and are excited to hear your ideas for additional sharing options you would like to see in the menu.
We have heard your feedback and are excited to announce that you can now view your folders!
Under "Albums," you will find a new group called "Folders" in addition to the already familiar groups of "Keywords," "Ratings," and "Locations". For each file folder, an album will be automatically created in this group, containing all the photos in that folder.
You can also use the folder name when searching for photos to find them even faster.
If you need folder albums and have added a source with an old version of Photos, you must first disconnect it and then re-add it.
We would like to thank you again for your valuable feedback that made this feature possible. Please do not hesitate to provide us with further feedback to make our app even better! :)
We are pleased to inform you that we have integrated a new search function into our app.
From now on, you can search your photos by keywords, locations, ratings, years, months, album names, and the camera used.
We are excited to hear your feedback on the implementation and any ideas you may have for improving and expanding the functionality.
We look forward to your feedback!
We have improved the visibility of scrollbars and removed the placeholder button for tagging multiple photos at once.
Currently, we have only implemented the ability to tag photos individually. To enable tagging of multiple photos, we are gathering ideas and feedback.
Are you interested in this feature? Can you recommend an app that has already implemented this feature successfully? What are your requirements for such a feature?
We are looking forward to hearing your feedback and ideas!
Previously, photos were always sorted in ascending order so that the newest photos were found at the end of the list.
From now on, it is also possible to sort photos in descending order. This can be set in the settings and affects all views in the gallery, including albums and, in the future, the display of search results.
To improve clarity, we have redesigned the information window for the photo metadata of a photo.
You can now tag your photos with keywords.
Please keep in mind that these modifications are only stored in the app's database for now and not written back to the JPG file's metadata. We have a separate post to assess the demand for this function.
We hope you enjoy this feature and are eager to receive your feedback! :)
