Thank you for your suggestion, and apologies for the delayed response.
The app is not registered as a viewer because it doesn't currently support that functionality. Instead, you can add entire folders, which will then be indexed and watched.
However, I recall that Picasa had a viewer app as well, so this is an interesting idea.
