Hi,
Thank you for your suggestion and also thank you for subscribing. :)
I understand your use case - you want to easily identify which photos still need to be tagged. Adding an indicator on the thumbnail could work, but it might also introduce visual noise. Some apps use a small pencil symbol for tagged images and a location pin for images with location data, next to where we have our star icon for ratings.
An alternative solution could be a special album that contains all untagged photos within the keyword smart albums, which we could prioritize. What do you think about this approach?
We aim to address all valid use cases (like this one) while maintaining a clutter-free experience. Photo management apps get messy way too easily, so we want to stand out here.
If other users also want to see these icons directly on the thumbnail, we could either enable this for everyone or make it an optional feature if preferences are divided. I look forward to more feedback on this regard.
Kind regards,
Stefan
Dear Stefan,
I don't see with all due respect where "visual noise" on a thumbnail would be an issue.
It also could be just a mouse-hover over to show its status of tagged.
Anyhow, just a thought.
This program has a good start to being top-notch in image management.
Be well.
Heidi-Ann
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback. 😊
I believe it's important to avoid clutter and distractions caused by too many icons, as each element displayed can potentially detract from the user experience.
Using a mouse-hover feature would only work for the desktop version and not for the mobile app, so it wouldn't fully resolve the issue.
Consider this: If we add an icon, you would still need to meticulously check your 30k photos to identify the ones missing this indication. Is this really convenient?
A more efficient solution might be a smart album that displays every untagged photo. We could do the same with every photo missing a location. This would offer greater visibility and act as a to-do list. If the album is empty, you can be assured that everything is in order.
I hope you are okay with us trying this first and seeing how it works for you.
Kind regards,
Stefan
@software @stefan
I concur one hundred percent Stefen. I'm surrounded by six computers running and failed to consider the mobile applications.
I like the "Smart Album" idea after putting more thought into the idea. Infact a brilliant idea.
So, we can expect it to be implemented by morning. 🤣
Sounds like programming fun.
Hope it makes it down the roadmap someday.
Thanks for your time Stefan, it indeed shows your commitment to this program.
Sincerely,
Heidi-Ann
@software
I'm glad you like the idea. Thank you. :)
I will try to address this soon, as it shouldn't require too much work and would offer great value.
Yes, I'm very committed as I'm the lead dev and product owner of this app. My background is in hobby photography, and I became frustrated with the available options on the market. Ashampoo gave me the opportunity to develop my own photo management app based on my vision and user feedback. It's hard to find a greater motivation. ;)
I want to make this app as useful as possible for everyone, including myself. :)
Kind regards,
Stefan
@software @stefan
Stefan thanks for setting a new status to this. I'm also thrilled to hear that you have a photography background too. That is a big plus for Ashampoo.
I lately been exploring digital painting using Corel Painter Pro 2023. Lot to learn, but keeps me busy while looking for new funding Scientific Frontline.
So, any public gallery to some of your photo's?
Heidi-Ann
@software
Hi Heidi-Ann,
I wish I could share my pictures publicly, but most of them are of my kids and family.
I believe it's crucial for a product owner to have domain knowledge and to use the product themselves. For example many apps I tested lack proper metadata support because their creators don't understand its importance.
Kind regards,
Stefan
changed title "
TaggedMarkers"The new smart albums have been implemented. :)
@stefan Again thank you. I'm assuming it will automatically upadate?
@software I wish, but the Ashampoo App is not quite there yet. It will show you the available update when you start the it.
@stefan Guess it just has cycled yet, since I have started it a few times since you mention it has been completed. I'll wait with anticipation.
Stefan, is there a direct download since I have no desire to use the Connect App?
@software As per company policy, we now use the Ashampoo App (formerly the Connect app) for distributing all our products. Soon, everything will be available exclusively through this platform.
If you have any issues with the Ashampoo App, please reach out to my colleagues at https://connect-en.feedback.ashampoo.com/
