Hi,
Thanks for reaching out.
We already support NEF files. Have you tried using yours?
To clarify, there is no "demo" or "trial" version. The free version of Photo Organizer is a fully-featured photo management app with no limits on file format support or anything else. The subscription simply adds extra features.
Kind regards,
Stefan
@stefan I now have the pro version as it was pretty inexpensive so with trying the
Pro features... but I am still not seeing any NEFs displayed. Thoughts on
why that might be?
Cheers,
Don
@dontownsend
Thank you very much for subscribing and for your support. I really appreciate it.
I wanted to let you know about an important detail that was accidentally omitted from the new product text: currently, WebP and RAW formats are not supported in cloud sources.
Does this affect your files? Where are they stored?
The issue is related to metadata parsing. Cloud services only provide a fraction of the necessary metadata, so we need to examine the files directly. For JPG and PNG files, the metadata is at the beginning, so we only need to download a few bytes. However, WebP stores metadata at the end, and RAW files like NEF require downloading approximately 3 MB per file to access the metadata. This significantly slows down the synchronization process.
I'm still considering the best solution. One option could be to add a setting for users with fast connections, allowing larger downloads without affecting performance. Alternatively, we could offer an opt-in setting for users who are okay with not receiving all metadata for cloud-hosted files.
What do you think?
@stefan Thanks for getting back and for the info. I think this isn't my issue as
the only folders I have added so far are on an internal SSD.
Thoughts?
Cheers
@dontownsend
Okay, that will need further investigation.
Can you share a sample file for examination?
You could take new one of a white wall.
Please send it to sol@ashampoo.com
@stefan Will do. I am away from my PC till tomorrow... But will send one through
when I can. Cheers.
@dontownsend
Thank you for providing the test file.
It will work with the next update, which will be available in the next days.
Thank you a lot for your report.
@dontownsend It works now. :)
